This is one of my favorite pictures and favorite memories of being on tour last year.  It was a show in Dover, NH w/ Sparks The Rescue, The Scenic, and Lannen Fall.  The Scenic are really close friends of ours and we are mutual Weezer fans.  So Jake came out to play guitar and Jeremy came out to help me sing on “Say It Ain’t So” . That’s one of the few songs out there that still gives me that “chill” when I hear it.  Definitely one of my favorites, and a song that that links all kinds of different seasons of my life.  All the credit goes to Victoria Morse on this picture, she does great live photography.  Her link is at the top.

“flying along the traintracks”

Last september we were on tour with Thieves and Villains and Yearling on the west coast.  We had just played Reno, NV and were spending a few days with friends there.  A few days before that we got the chance to hang out at Lake Tahoe, that was absolutely beautiful.  After leaving Reno, we headed east for Salt Lake City.  Only a hundred or so miles into the drive, we broke down in the middle of the desert.. Our worse fear, yet at the same time something that we always wish we had time to do, be stranded in the middle of nowhere.   For five days we slept in our van at a truck stop in Winnemucca, NV.  So many thoughts go through your head at a time like that, obviously we weren’t in any danger, but you still panic a little inside.  Wondering if we’d ever be able to leave.  I spent a few afternoons sitting by the highway, only a couple hundred feet away, beneath a big tree.  I recorded ten or so songs in the shade of that tree.  I decided to share the first one today tentatively titled “Flying Along the traintracks”.  Each song was  recorded live on garage band, then I overdubbed a background vocal and key part on a few of the songs.  Hope you enjoy, I really like the authentic feel, hope you can see that too.

Quite a different experience tonight in Chicago.. Rather cold by lake Michigan in February!
Working on some new songs tonight, stoked to share some soon.

Been a while since I’ve posted anything on here..but we’re back on tour for the year and we’re having a great time.  We have a few days off in chicago so were celebrating Mike’s birthday tonight, and going downtown to see the “bean” and lakefront in the city. Going to be freezing.  This pic is Dan and I from last time we were able to go downtown on some time off in June of ‘09.. going to be a little colder this time.
Promise I’m going to post my first tumblr song this week sometime.
Enjoy your day people, stay warm!!

New York, New York.
Danny and I got take a train into Manhattan yesterday and explore for a little bit.  This is still one of my favorite places to visit and every time I come here I’m just amazed at the speed of life and how many people are there!   Got to hang with out with our friends @ doghouse records as well as Anthony Raneri.  Overall it was a really good day off on a really fun tour that we just started with The Scenic.   That’s it for now:)

So I’ve decided to start using the tumblr account I created at the beginning of the year.  So much social networking going on out there, and I’m involved in a lot of them.  I figured I’d utilize this account to share more about my experiences on tour and life more in depth than I could or can on myspace, facebook, twitter, etc.  I think I’ll try  to add some more demos and music I won’t post on myspace as I do them on here as well.
This time on the road has been particularly adventurous.  I’m sure anyone that might read this knows we had some van trouble in Nevada last week.  It was quite an experience to say the least.. The pic is from the exact spot we broke down before we were towed 70 miles to nearest town, which was Winnemucca, NV.  All in all it was a really cool time to just slow down and think about the things that matter in life, like friends and family and music of course.  I really realized how cool it even was that I was able to be in Nevada… haha.   One of my favorite things about the 4 days we were stuck there was how much time  I had to write through the experience.   I ended up writing about 11 songs and am trying to decide on a creative way to release them at some point.   I’ll touch more on this tomorrow but am considering uploading one of the songs I worked on.  All of them are just rough live recordings with a background vocal on some.   I think when I’m home this fall I’ll re-record them and try to release an EP of some sort.  I have plans for another release towards the end of the year as well.  Just feeling out some ideas with those two things, but I’d love to hear some feedback:)
That’s it for today, I’ll be back tomorrow…. and maybe therell be a song if I get some feedback:)
